How to Change Your Life By Being Intentional

How to Change Your Life by Being Intentional

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Does it seem like all you do is work and then come home to never-ending chores? Or maybe you feel like there’s got to be more than this to life, so you end up feeling miserable?

I know those feelings all too well.

It is draining to feel like you’re stuck and not going anywhere. It really sucks to feel like you’re not going in the direction you thought you would. Trust me, I dwelled and dwelled on why this was. What makes us feel stuck? I was so determined to find a solution.

After quite some time, in fact, a LONG time, of agonizing over all of this I finally realized that personally, I felt this way mainly because it felt like I wasn’t moving forward in my life. I had no actual goals I was going after. No real direction that I was truly excited about. I didn’t have a plan to get to where I really wanted to be. And, I wasn’t even on top of my day to day responsibilities.

It’s no wonder why I felt stuck!

Once I realized this, I decided to become intentional with my life. I started off slowly, I made a plan, and I took baby steps to get myself unstuck. Now, here I am a few years later, and my life has drastically changed in so many ways, all from just living intentionally. Let me explain exactly how I changed my life by being intentional, so you can do the same.

Don’t feel sorry for yourself

It’s so easy to feel sorry for ourselves when things get a little hard. When we feel like we’re stuck in a rut, oftentimes, the first thing we want to do is pull back and throw our hands up. But really, this mindset doesn’t help us. You see, it all starts with being intentional with your perception. If you can change the way you look at your situation, you’ll empower yourself to get unstuck from the very start. Don’t keep yourself stuck for longer than you need to!

Channel your energy into finding your solution

Once you’ve decided that you are willing to make a change in your life, it’s essential to be able to identify a solution when it’s needed. Rather than agonizing over all the chores you have, or that you hate your job, instead, channel that energy into solving your problem. If you can identify yourself as a problem solver, you will go much farther. What can you do better in your life than will eliminate the feeling of being stuck?

Part of this could be asking yourself what it is that you want out of your life? What would make you happy? What are your bigger goals?

Move towards your goals

I’ve found that the more I actually take steps towards my bigger goals, the more I feel content in my everyday life. There’s just this inspiring feeling you get when you know you’re moving forward that is motivating and eye-opening. Even if they are baby steps, those little baby steps are each adding up together to move you towards your goal. Don’t dismiss the baby steps. Make yourself a plan, take steps towards your goals, and you’ll be amazed at how you feel.

Learn how to motivate yourself

We also tend to feel stuck because we’re likely not pushing ourselves to be better. Our state of mind and the energy we feed ourselves, whether we recognize it or not, impact our actions. So how can you keep yourself in a positive mood? What are you going to do to keep yourself on track? Knowing how to keep yourself motivated so that you can keep pushing forward is key.

Give yourself grace and enjoy life

One other thing that I have more recently realized, is that we simply need to enjoy our lives more. Because at the end of the day, there isn’t any reason we should get down on ourselves. As long as you are taking baby steps to get to where you want to be, you should celebrate that, and forgive yourself when you fall short. Sometimes, you just have to put away the planner and enjoy your life as it is, right now!

Making a change in your life is possible. And not only is it possible, but if you’re feeling stuck and unmotivated, you owe it to yourself to make a change. You deserve to live a life you absolutely love, so allow yourself to take those steps. It’s all about being intentional.

With love,

Giovanna
